It’s important when posting to your social media pages to make sure someone is going to be there to see your content! There are general rules of thumb as to which times are best for posting e.g. Around 8pm is a good time for Facebook as most people have settled in for the evening and are more likely to engage with a post on Facebook. Lunchtime is good for those lunchbreak scrollers though they may not have time to engage or take action on your post.
However it’s really dependant on YOUR audience and the best place to find out what they are up to is by looking at your insights. You may be surprised by what you find!
In Instagram and Facebook insights you will be able to find when your fans are online. So, for example if Facebook tells you that most of your fans are online at 7pm that’s the time to post! Try checking your insights now and schedule your posts for the coming week at those times.
Twitter is a slightly different ballgame but you can use a few free tools to let you know the best posting times. Type into Google: When are my Twitter Followers online and a few good ones come up in the search. Don’t forget that tweets don’t stay on the feed for long! So you must remember to share the same content over and over at different times and days to make sure you maximise the reach.
LinkedIn is a very 9-5 Mon-Friday platform (for the most part) but that’s not to say you can’t post at other times. Run a test – Schedule LinkeIn posts for 9am 1pm and and evening one for a week and see which performs best!
Good Luck and let me know how you get on, were you surprised to find your Facebook followers were mostly online at midnight?
